In 2017 we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Farm. On this occasion, we resolved that it was time to imagine a new path for our wine, a new way of expressing it.
We have always been careful to exalt each of our parcel’s specific characteristics, and over the years we have started to turn to single parcels’ vinification, pressing the grapes of each vineyard independently from the others, in order to appreciate the distinctive features of the Sangiovese of each land plot. This process of progressive diversification of techniques and products found its completion once the vintage 2015 was released: for the first time, in fact, it was established to make a new line without the Chianti Classico Riserva, at the same time introducing the new project of the Chianti Classico crus.
This is how Vigna Dofana e Vigna Montaperto came to life. Two 100% Sangiovese wines that uncover the unique expression of the single vineyard they come from – by bringing to light the incredible complexity of relations between topography, micro-climate and the earth’s geology. As a result, we have discovered two distinct but complementary aspects of Sangiovese that delightfully reveal the richness of our land.
Vigna Montaperto takes its name by the famous hill in the Chianti. It is an elegant, delicate Sangiovese, with velvety tannins, refined but powerful. It’s our label with the Moon.
Vigna Dofana is named after an Etruscan prince, and it’s defined by its vigor. It’s a subtle but sharp Sangiovese, full in body, with well-defined and warm tannins. It’s our label with the Sun.
